Media and the City: Fusing Journalism & Technology for Better Storytelling
AL DÃA News Media leads a unique discussion between journalists and developers about the future of digital storytelling.
Join our audience of journalists, developers, techies, and news aficionados as we explore what's possible at the intersection of media and technology.
AL DÃA News Media Managing Editor Sabrina Vourvoulias and the panelists will discuss technologies involved in digital storytelling, what can be improved, and what still needs to be developed. We'll cover coding and how it's become an integral part of journalism courses today, but we'll also debate what can be done to bridge the gap for journos that have never studied it. We'll also get the tech perspective, learning about major challenges developers confront when working on digital storytelling, as well as new developments that are in the works.
Innovative discussion and creative people, all taking place at La Colombe, a rum distillery and cafe in Fishtown.
Admission includes one drink ticket. Dinner, snacks, and additional drinks are available to purchase at the venue.

ABOUT US:
AL DÃA News Media is a dynamic news organization based in Philadelphia, with an increasingly national scope and reach. Our multi-platform news media organization showcases the fullness of the Latino experience in the United States — fostering engagement and driving a new American narrative.
AL DÃA empowers Latinos to write their own story and is the only news media organization that defines the Latino experience proactively. AL DÃA offers readers a unique perspective in the midst of the cluttered media landscape with its national news website available in English and Spanish, a newspaper, English-language events including media panels, political conversations, film screenings, and other ambitious content initiatives.
The content provided by AL DÃA across platforms actively impacts the lives of those who read it. Latinos find themselves fully represented; businesses learn about the fastest growing demographic in the country; and non-Latinos are engaged by content that doesn’t simply expand their cultural landscape but provides thoughtful and incisive attention to what’s happening throughout the nation. Other news media organizations may provide a means of communication between readers and advertisers, but AL DÃA creates an empowering and insightful partnership between the parties. AL DÃA blurs cultural lines to form one community. AL DÃA welcomes you to this community.
AL DÃA News Media’s print product is nationally award winning and has a 96% market penetration.
In 2014, the company relaunched its website with a focus on national content generation.
